Red Wing Shoe Co., best known for its work boots and owner of the Vasque outdoor brand, is planning on opening 125 store over the next five years, according to a report in the Minneapolis Tribune.
The stores, all independently owned, will open mostly in the Northeast, where Red Wing doesn't have a strong presence. It currently has about 425 U.S. stores, and about 70 percent are independently owned and operated.
The push into new markets represents about a 20%jump in new store growth, the company said.
Red Wing Shoe also makes footwear under the Irish Setter, Vasque, Carhartt and WORX brands.
