StrikeMaster Lithium Lazer Ice Auger

Rapala is recalling about 3,000 of its StrikeMaster Lithium Lazer ice augers in the United States and about 60 in Canada because the trigger switch on the auger could fail and the unit not turn off, posing an injury hazard.

No injuries have been reported, but Rapala is instructing consumers to return the augers to place of purchase or direct to Rapala for a full refund or $700 credit toward a new product on www.rapala.com.

The Lithium Lazer ice auger is a 24-pound black and red unit powered by an electric motor and a rechargeable 50-volt lithium ion battery.  The unit was sold at Cabela’s, Gander Mountain, Joe’s Sporting Goods, Kirkwood Scheels Sports, Reed’s Sporting Goods and other sporting goods stores from September 2014 through January 2015 for about $600.

The unit was manufactured by Normark Corporation doing business as Rapala USA of Minnetonka, MN.
