Direct, develop and implement product category/line objectives, strategies, and tactics to drive sales and profitability within the Commercial, Premium, and International sales channels. The objective is to hit sales and profit aggressive growth objectives via product line management (volume/pricing/distribution plans) and the development of new categories and products within the prioritized sales channels.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct end-user and trade/customer research.
  • Formulate strategic plans and marketing plans for each of the existing product lines, inclusive of promotion, distribution, sales, and communication tactics.
  • Develop category and competitive analysis to optimize the business performance and growth potential of new product category and product lines.
  • Evaluate, categorize, and prioritize current internal and external new product ideas based on agreed upon cross-functional ranking criteria.
  • Develop and maintain a three-year business and new product plan.
  • Coordinate and lead all aspects of New Product Development for assigned areas – concept development, product definition, consumer research, product design development, engineering planning, product specifications, and market launch planning. Includes related administrative requirements, such as communication, packaging and launch material development for Sales.
  • Collaborate with a wide variety of functional areas, such as Sales, Engineering, Finance, Manufacturing, Purchasing, etc. in the development of new products. Must keep all projects on schedule and maintain required quality and targeted cost levels.
  • Sales Training – product knowledge training seminars, plus development and delivery of essential materials.
  • Budgeting – in conjunction with the Sales function, responsible for revenue and profit for the existing and new businesses and the product line portfolio.
  • Customer interface – actively participate in customer development programs and in customer meetings to ascertain business opportunities and to present new products and new programs.
  • Develop all selling and marketing support materials, such as catalogs, product specification sheets, product performance information, advertising materials, etc.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred.
  • Business experience: 10+ years in Marketing, preferably durable/consumer product experience in the commercial and/or international fields.
  • New product development experience within a durable-goods product environment a must – particularly with plastic products.
  • Comfortable developing business plans – both from a strategic and analytical perspective.
  • Demonstrated creative new product solutions and market successes.
  • Experience working / managing in cross-functional and team-driven environment.
  • Management and leadership skills. Able to progress to Director level.
  • Strong presentation / communication skills – written and verbal.
  • PC literate – Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel and Power Point)
