PrimaLoft Inc. is working with several outdoor brands to bring its Performance Down Blends to lightweight garments specifically designed for spring and summer activities.

In addition, for Spring 2015, PrimaLoft’s brand partners will continue to utilize hybrid constructions, combining performance fabrics and PrimaLoft  insulation that provide consumers with warmth where they need it the most.

“The positive reception of our PrimaLoft  Performance Down Blend product line enabled us to collaborate with our brand partners to use this technology in Spring 2015 lines,” said David Newey, director of global marketing for PrimaLoft. “Lightweight down jackets and hybrid insulated garments are ideal choices for warm weather activities where mornings are cool, evenings are chilly, and weather can change quickly. Not only are PrimaLoft  Performance Down Blends lightweight and compressible, but also, they have the best warmth to weight ratio.”

PrimaLoft  Performance Down Blends are engineered by intimately blending premium down with moisture blocking, permanent water repellent PrimaLoft  ultrafine fibers. This proprietary process combines the best qualities of both materials and provides warmth, protection, outstanding dry times, and comfort no matter what the conditions. PrimaLoft  Gold Insulation Down Blend has comparable warmth in construction to 750 fill goose down. PrimaLoft  Silver Insulation Down Blend provides comparable warmth in construction to 650 fill down.

Both Gold and Silver level products retain more than 94 percent of warmth when wet and dry four times faster than untreated down.

Outdoor products using PrimaLoft  Gold Insulation Down Blend available in North America for Spring 2015 include the adidas Outdoor Terrex Downblaze jacket for men and women, and Black Diamond’s Hot Forge Hybrid Hoody for men and women. In addition, Salewa incorporated PrimaLoft  Silver Insulation Down Blend into its Fusion-8 Hybrid Sleeping Bag.

The North Face and Dynafit will showcase new hybrid styles for Spring 2015 featuring versatile PrimaLoft  insulation. The North Face men and women’s ThermoBall™ Hybrid Hoodie™ Powered by PrimaLoft  provides core warmth with a lightweight stretch soft shell side and sleeve panels for increased breathability during aerobic activities. The Dynafit Traverse Hybrid PrimaLoft  Jacket uses PrimaLoft  Gold Insulation in the body to keep the core warm with the durable and breathable ‘Durastretch’ 4-way stretch materials in the shoulders, arms and hood allowing for aggressive mobility in any outdoor pursuit.

“PrimaLoft  Performance Down Blend was our first choice for warm weather functionality,” said Greg Thomsen, managing director, adidas Outdoor USA. “Consumers want reliable apparel that performs and protects in a variety of conditions, especially in higher elevations, at venues near the water and for sudden thunderstorms. This design versatility, especially in the hybrid category, is just as important for spring and summer as it is for winter.”

PrimaLoftuses only premium-quality down from socially responsible sources, tested by IDFL (International Down and Feather Testing Laboratory), and sourced through EDFA (European Down & Feather Association) certified brokers and ADFC (American Down and Feather Council) certified brokers. The down undergoes the PrimaLoft patented fluorocarbon-free chemistry processing. This makes the down water repellent and breathable, as it retains its structure even when wet. After this processing, the treated down is intimately bonded with the permanent water repellent, ultrafine PrimaLoft  fibers, providing superior softness and loft, hydrophobic benefits, and outstanding cold and wet-weather warmth and performance. PrimaLoft  Performance Down Blends are bluesign  certified.
