Since its U.S. launch this past Spring, Greyp Bikes has received praise for its tech-heavy, connected, trail-capable E-MTB line, and will close out the year on another high note — the judges at the 2021 Outdoor Retailer Innovation Awards (ORIA) have named its G6.2 model a finalist in the competition for January’s virtual Winter Market.

Greyp is one of 34 finalists out of hundreds of entries and will receive a virtual booth during the virtual show. The final four Grand Prize winners will be announced at the virtual ORIA ceremony on January 21, 2021 during Outdoor Retailer Winter Market’s (ORWM) virtual show.

“The ORIA recognizes the cutting edge and carefully considered products and retail services from all seasons made famous at the trade show,” said ORWM.

Founder Mate Rimac is also the founder of Rimac Automobili and has garnered a wealth of expertise and experience from developing automotive and battery technology along with digital connectivity.

The G6.2, middle in the line’s three builds, features a SRAM drivetrain, Rock Shox suspension and DT-Swiss wheels. The spec is backed by Greyp’s proprietary e-drive technology — a 36V, 700Wh battery, designed in-house, powers the 250W motor, which yields an estimated 60 miles of power-assist under normal use. Greyp said the model will be upgradeable to 460W through software updates in the near future. The motor was designed by MPF, but Greyp engineers customized the design to best fit its build and battery.

There are a host of other high-tech connectivity and data features when paired with the mobile app – from front/rear built-in video cameras to full 4G and Bluetooth connectivity:

  • Built-in 4G eSIM card powered by T-Mobile
  • Over-The-Air (OTA) software updates to the bikes and mobile apps on iPhone and Android platforms
  • Front/rear hi-def video cameras for hands-free imaging
  • Remote camera operation/viewing for theft deterrence
  • Built-in GPS and navigation, accelerometer and barometer
  • Real-time battery reserve readout based on GPS terrain data
  • Heart rate-controlled power-assist mode with included HR wrist strap
  • Mobile mount with USB charging port for in-app, on-the-fly control of all onboard tech

“Nobody else is doing what Greyp is doing with the integration of tech, connectivity and MTB spec,” said Vladimir Karmelić, Greyp’s global head of marketing. “We feel these bikes push the limits of what e-bikes can do both physically and electronically, and from our retailer and media feedback, and now with this latest accolade from ORIA, it’s clear the industry agrees.”
