Denver, Colorado – Boa Technology, creators of the Boa Fit System, marks its 25th anniversary this year—celebrating a milestone built on innovation, collaboration, and performance. The journey began in 2001, when founder Gary Hammerslag set out to rethink how snowboard boots should operate, fit, and perform. Today, Boa is a global company of close to 300 employees, headquartered in Denver, Colorado, with teams working across the U.S., Europe, and Asia.

Across two and a half decades, the company’s patented micro-adjustable solutions have transformed the way athletes and workers connect with their gear. The Boa Fit System integrates micro-adjustable dials, super-strong lace, and low-friction lace guides into footwear, helmets, performance braces, and other gear to deliver superior fit solutions with proven performance advantages.

In 2017, the creation of Boa’s Human Performance Fit Lab marked a turning point in Boa’s continued investment in fit innovation. Research led by the team at Boa’s state-of-the-art facility in Denver, CO., along with field validation and over 5,000 elite-athlete tests, demonstrates measurable advantages: up to 10 percent improved power transfer, up to 9 percent improved energy efficiency, and up to 11 percent improved stability and control.

The Boa Fit System has been integrated into 10,000+ products and counting across sport and workwear, helping millions of users in over 80+ countries dial in their fit and performance. To date, athletes dialed in with Boa have earned more than 200+ Olympic medals, and at the 2025 Tour de France, 77 percent of riders raced with Boa.

“Boa’s journey started in Steamboat, Colorado, in 2001, disrupting snowboard boots by delivering a superior fit, performance, and enhanced experience for riders. Fast forward 25 years, Boa has now dialed in almost 300 million athletes in partnership with leading sports and workwear brands globally. We are very grateful to everyone who has been a part of our journey and look forward to the next 25-plus years,” said Shawn Neville, CEO of Boa Technology.

Boa’s commitment to innovation is matched by its focus on responsibility. Backed by 543 issued or pending patents and more than 100,000 hours of durability and quality testing, the company continues to advance solutions designed to perform—and last. In 2025, 99 percent of Boa products were made with recycled or renewable materials, 3,100 tonnes of virgin material had been avoided since 2018, and 100 percent of supplier factories were graded “A” reinforcing Boa’s commitment to social responsibility. More than 15,000 individuals have been supported through Boa’s community partnerships since 2001, and 90% of employees volunteer in their communities each year.

As the company enters its next era, Boa will continue to expand platform capabilities, invest in biomechanics and materials science, and validate performance through research and real-world use. The mission remains unchanged: to help the world’s best athletes dial in and perform at their peak—focused, confident, and fearless to go further.
