Power Force Apparel has launched a shoe design contest. The Birmingham based athletic apparel company, who recently spoofed the Nike “Kobe System” commercial, is now going against the mainstream trend of using athletes and stars to design shoes and giving an unproven designer a chance to have their own design created for Power Force Apparel.

On its blog, the company said, “The design must be an original athletic men’s or women's shoe, innovative, and unique, unlike any other design that is out there right now. Power Force wants to recognize everyday people who are doing extraordinary things and give those with talent the opportunity to make their creativity a reality.”

The top three winners of the contest will be flown to New York for the Fashion Footwear Association of New York (FFANY) shoe show where the 1st place winner will receive $25,000, 2nd place will receive $15,000 and 3rd place will receive $10,000. Additionally, the 1st place winner's design will become a part of the Power Force Apparel shoe line and will be named after its designer.

The contest is open to residents of the United States who are 18 years of age or older. Parents may submit artwork for children who are under 18. All contestants must have a valid address within the United States or its territories. Entries will be accepted Monday April 16, 2012 through Friday May 4, 2012. All entries must be made via www.powerforceapparel.com. All entries become the property of Power Force Apparel and with your submission you relinquish all rights of your design to Power Force Apparel.
