Pony International announced that Los Angeles Lakers’ Center Chris Mihm has signed to endorse the Pony brand for the re-launch of its performance basketball line later this fall. Mihm will wear Pony on the court and joins Boston Celtics’ standout Ricky Davis as part of the growing family of Pony endorsers for the upcoming 2005-06 NBA season.

The former University of Texas star averaged nearly 10 points per game with the Lakers last year and is a key component in their drive to win back the NBA title this season. Prior to joining the Lakers, Mihm played four seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers and did a stint with the Celtics.

“The Lakers are the most visible basketball team in the country and we are excited to partner with such a stand-out player and individual as Chris,” says Killick Datta, CEO of GBMI, the majority owner of Pony International. “His close proximity to our global operations makes him valuable in getting feedback on our basketball product and his on-court presence helps the visibility of Pony.”

“The Pony sports family is unique and I’m looking forward to being part of the brand rebirth from the ground up,” says Mihm. “It’s exciting to be wearing the Chevron logo that was so iconic back in the day when I was just starting the game.”
