Polar Bottle said more than a dozen of its employees, and a few company dogs, walked and jogged with spirit this past Saturday to kick off the companys 2013 Health Challenge by participating in the 13th Annual Canine Classic 5K at the Boulder Reservoir.

Organized for the first time in 2011, the Polar Bottle Health Challenge seeks to encourage employees to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle by rewarding them with big financial bonuses for participating in designated local sporting events.

One of the main goals of our brand is to inspire our customers to be active and get outside, said Polar Bottle President Judy Amabile. We realized that in order to promote this lifestyle to consumers, we must encourage the people in our company to adopt it as well.”

The Canine Classic 5K, which supported the local charity Moving to End Sexual Abuse, was the first of three sporting events employees are invited to participate in for the challenge and 21 employees participated. The rest of the crew will take part in one or both of the remaining two sporting events – the Strides for Epilepsy 5K on May 11th and the Bolder Boulder 10K on May 27th. To persuade employees to encourage one another to participate, the challenge is designed so that the financial bonus increases the more people take part in an event.
