POC, which launched its first helmets for road biking this spring, said its Cerebel aero road helmet won a coveted Eurobike Award at the Eurobike tradeshow held in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
The Eurobike Award is one of the most prestigious design awards in the bicycle industry and this year saw 5,000 entries. For the first time, this year’s Eurobike design award was organized in association with the German Designer Club (DDC) and the six-person expert panel determined the 56 winners in various categories based on design and innovation.
It is incredibly encouraging and energizing to receive such a prestigious award for the Cerebel helmet, states POC CEO and founder Stefan Ytterborn. The Cerebel is our most recent contribution to the POC toolbox of road helmets, each developed to optimize performance without sacrificing safety in different circumstances.
The Cerebel has been engineered to improve aerodynamic performance and is borne out of extensive wind tunnel testing and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis. The helmet is the result of POC’s partnerships with the Garmin-Sharp Pro Cycling team, Volvo Car Group and the aerodynamic specialists in WATTS Lab.
We are very fortunate to be working with such a broad range of talented and experienced partners, states Ytterborn. “Together with WATTS Lab, Volvo and Garmin-Sharp team riders, including Dan Martin, Jack Bauer and Andrew Talansky, we have been able to develop a helmet with a perfect mix of low drag at high speeds, multiple yaw angles and dynamic positioning.
The Cerebel helmet will be presented at the Interbike tradeshow September 10-12 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and will be available to consumers in early 2015 as part of POCs upcoming road range.
