The U.S. Department of Education recently announced the availability of $70 million dollars for the purchase of products, and for training on such products, that help get children active. These products include snowsports equipment, reported the SIA. The Carol M. White Physical Education Progress (PEP) grants can be secured by schools and community groups for physical education programs.
The grants were announced Jan. 15, 2009 and the deadline for receiving grant proposals is Mar. 9. Grant winners will be announced in September. In the past, the average allocation per grant is $300,000.
