P.E.4LIFE, the Washington, D.C.-advocacy group for physical education, has announced the appointment of Craig Jonas of the Jonas Group, Highlands Ranch, Colo., as the three-year-old organization’s first sponsorship development consultant. Jonas, 39, will be responsible
for raising funds for the campaign to improve school-based P.E. He is also tasked with helping corporate sponsors gain maximum value from association with P.E.4LIFE.

Jonas is the former executive vice president of Coach’s Edge and Sportvision
where he forged sales and marketing relationships with a variety of companies,
from Sega to Yahoo!

Anne Flannery, president and CEO of P.E.4LIFE, says about the appointment,
“We are proud of our organization’s past achievements – we helped raise $115
million in federal funds for the Carol M. White Physical Education for Progress
(PEP) Program in our first three years, created National P.E. Day, and have
launched two P.E.4LIFE Institutes.”

Flannery continues, “But there’s much more work remaining to stem the
epidemic of childhood obesity. Craig’s efforts will allow us to increase our
commitment to improving the health and well-being of American youth.”

Jonas is a former academic chair at Jones International University where he
taught Negotiation and Conflict Management, Entrepreneurship, History of World
Literature, Integrated Math, and Science. Prior to that he was assistant and
head coach for high school and college basketball, golf, and volleyball. He is
a FIBA international basketball expert for Olympic solidarity and has
conducted clinics all over the world, including South Africa. Jonas also traveled to
Olympia, Greece, as an American USOC representative at the International
Olympic Academy.
