Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. reported that total sales for the month ended April 2 were $120.1 million, an increase of 15.7% over total sales of $103.8 million during the same period last year. Total company same-store sales increased 4.8% during the same period. By concept, PacSun same-store sales increased 4.9% and d.e.m.o. same-store sales increased 4.3% compared to the same five-week period last year.

Total sales for the first nine weeks of fiscal 2005 were $203.2 million, an increase of 18.5% over total sales of $171.5 million during the same period last year. Total company same-store sales increased 7.0% during the same period. By concept, PacSun same-store sales increased 7.1% and d.e.m.o. same-store sales increased 6.6% compared to the same nine-week period last year.

Based on March sales results, the company remains comfortable with its first quarter 2005 earnings guidance of $0.23 per share given on March 1, 2005. The company earned $0.19 per share in the first quarter last year.
