Pacific Sunwear of California, Inc. saw September net sales increase 13.6% to $181.6 million from $159.9 million during the same four week period ended September 2, 2006. Total company same-store sales increased 9.6% during the same period. By concept, PacSun same-store sales increased 11.9% and demo same-store sales decreased 17.3% compared to the same four week period last year. Due to the 53rd week in fiscal year 2006, total sales and comparable store sales for fiscal August 2007 are compared to the four-week period ended September 2, 2006. The company believes that its August sales performance is attributable in part to the later start of back to school in Florida and Texas that occurred in fiscal August this year versus fiscal July last year.


Total sales for the first 30 weeks (year to date) of fiscal 2007 ended September 1, 2007 were $833.1 million, an increase of 6.7% over total sales of $780.9 million during the same 30-week period ended September 2, 2006. Total company same-store sales increased 2.2% during the same period. By concept, PacSun same-store sales increased 4.0% and demo same-store sales decreased 12.4% compared to the same 30-week period last year.
