Outside Interactive, Inc. added two key leadership appointments this week, including Christopher Jerard as chief brand officer and Claus Moberg as general manager, Mapping.

Jerard has worked for three decades in outdoor media, and his recent leadership role was as chief experience officer at Outside. He joined the company in 2001 as VP of Content Marketing. Prior to Outside, he founded several outdoor media and creative companies. Jerard will report to Heather Dietrick, chief media officer.

Jerard said, “Bringing together Outside’s events, external narrative and creative into one cohesive expression of the brand is work I’m honored to lead. Our mission to Get Everyone Outside guides that work. Unifying how we show up will help us grow our impact and inspire more people to celebrate the transformative power of nature.”

Under Jerard, the company plans to “unify Experiential, Communications, Brand Creative, and the Outside Creator Network under one brand and experiential organization.”

Moberg joined the company on December 1 as general manager, Mapping, reporting to Lauren Berolini, chief business officer, Consumer Apps. In this role, Moberg will lead the company’s mapping division, P&L, and “define the integration and go-to-market strategy for Gaia GPS, Trailforks, and MapMyFitness to serve users and drive growth through subscription and membership models.”

Moberg reportedly brings 15 years of experience to the role “building innovative consumer technology products and scaling high-performing teams.” He most recently served as VP of Engineering at Roblox for nine years. Before that, he founded and served as CEO of SnowShoe, a physical/digital smartphone transaction authentication tech company.

“Working in the outdoors industry has been a dream since my first YMCA backpacking trips through Rocky Mountain National Park in middle school,” said Moberg. “I would impatiently wait for each new issue of Outside and Backpacker to show up in my mailbox. It feels full circle to have my energy and passion poured into Outside Interactive and help shape the future of how people discover, explore, and connect with the outdoors through our mapping products.”
