U.S. Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-CO) will reportedly be licensing his name to an undisclosed company for a “Nighthorse” signature line of camping and outdoor gear. A report last week in a Colorado paper had Campbell, a Native American who is retiring from the U.S. Senate at the end of this term, inking a tentative agreement with the outdoor company as part of his retirement plan.

The article said that “Campbell parlayed his rugged image and Northern Cheyenne heritage into a 22-year political career. Now he said he’s looking forward to helping design tents, backpacks, gloves and other gear that will bear his name.”

Campbell intimated that he will do “some of the designing” along with the company’s designers. Campbell has been designing jewelry for many years. He said he’ll be hitting the trade shows to help sell the goods as well.
None of the plans will become final until Campbell leaves office in January.
