Outdoor University, an Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) event, recently announced its 2008 national schedule. The program, which provides regional retailers with training aimed at equipping them with tools to help improve their profitability, will be offered at four sessions across the country.

In 2007, Outdoor University workshops serviced over 100 specialty retailers from over 25 states and received positive reviews.

“The quality of the program and speakers was excellent,” remarked Fred Martin, vice president of Mast General Store. “I greatly appreciate OIA’s commitment to retail education and will continue to support these events.”

For 2008, Outdoor University will hold four training workshops preceding regional and national tradeshows. New for 2008 will be an Outdoor University workshop offered prior to Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, in conjunction with the Open Air Demo.

“Based on retail and rep feedback, the Outdoor University program is designed to give retailer store owners, managers, and staff tools to improve their business operations and market competitiveness.” said Ann Obenchain, vice president of member services for OIA.” By taking the Outdoor University program directly to the retailers, OIA is presenting a convenient and affordable resource for independent specialty businesses.

Outdoor University is offered to retailers and sales representatives at no charge, but pre-registration is required. For more information on Outdoor University, to view speaker bios, or to register for an event near you, please visit www.outdoorindustry.org.
