Average selling prices for outdoor footwear inched up ever so slightly in the month of June, led by strong increases in the sport specialty retail channel, according to retail point-of-sale data compiled by SportScanINFO.  The slight increase for the month of June versus the year-ago period was negatively impacted by a 4.2% decrease in average selling prices in the full-line sporting goods channel as promotions took their toll.


The average price consumers paid for outdoor footwear was $52.56 in June.  While ASP’s were up slightly versus last year, the June ASP was down $5.15 from the year-to-date average.  The average selling price of outdoor footwear was up 3.3% for the five-month year-to-date period through June compared to the prior year-to-date period.


For June, average selling prices were up 3.2% in men’s outdoor footwear, increased 1.8% in kids’ outdoor footwear, but rose 2.0% in women’s outdoor footwear.


Within outdoor footwear, ASP's for Hybrid/Watershoes were down nearly 10%, while ASP's for technical hiking footwear increased over 20% for the month.
