The Outdoor Retailer trade show said it continues to develop business
community centers for specific segments in the active outdoor
marketplace, concentrating energy in zones with like-minded exhibitors,
advocacy groups, endemic media, dealer activities and athlete
presentations.

These efforts will be evident during the annual Outdoor Retailer Open
Air Demo and Summer Market trade show held July 20-24, at Pineview
Reservoir near Ogden, Utah, and the Salt Palace Convention Center in
Salt Lake City, respectively.

“Members of the “industry tribes” gather at Outdoor Retailer to find
new connections, new resources, reinforce relationships within their
core segment, as well as explore the edges of what is happening in the
tangential business sectors, coming away with more market intel and
acumen,” said Kenji Haroutunian, Outdoor Retailer show director. “We
want to do everything we can to foster an atmosphere of new
solutions that drive the retail store of the future forward and to fuel
value and enhance the experience of attending OR.”

Outdoor Retailer's efforts to create a more intuitive floor plan for
attendees and synergy within individual market segments are noticeable
in the Climbing, Design/Sourcing, Endurance and Paddler Zones. Located
around the floor and surrounded by many market-centric exhibitors, the
brand neutral areas provide a networking center for relevant advocacy
groups, athletes, brand reps, dealers and endemic media.

In addition to the zones, market-centric events held throughout Open
Air Demo and The Expo are intended to engage retailers with fellow
attendees and outdoor recreation activities, while sparking new ideas
that can be implemented in their retail stores.

Some of these events and programs include:

Climbing/Mountaineering
Climbing Tours at Open Air Demo
Utah Mountain Adventures (UMA) will conduct Climbing Clinics at the OR
Open Air Demo at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Beginner through expert-level
climbers will be shuttled to various crags along the Ogden River,
offering short approaches to high-quality Quartzite climbs from 5.6 –
5.13. UMA guides will equip the routes and oversee belaying, knots,
etc. with safety and fun as the primary goals. Any gear needed will be
provided by UMA, including shoes, harnesses, helmets, ropes and
hardware. Shuttles leave from the Open Air Demo entrance.
