Ortovox, the German maker of avalanche transceivers and rescue equipment, is expanding their reach into New England and Mid-Atlantic markets with the addition of two sales agencies.

Dan Sandberg, an experienced guide and avalanche educator leads sales responsibilities in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island. Kinetic Reps, an established agency out of West Chester, Penn., now represents Ortovox in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia and northern Virginia.

“Retailers in these states are increasingly seeing customers looking to purchase avalanche rescue equipment,” said Christian Mason, director of sales and marketing at Ortovox. “Dan Sandberg and Kinetic Reps are fully prepared to equip retailers with the tools needed to educate their customers about avalanche safety basics and Ortovox equipment.”

Committed to avalanche education and awareness, Ortovox partners with The American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE). Working together Ortovox and AIARE created new curriculum for retail professionals emphasizing the vital role education and rescue gear play in traveling safely in the backcountry.

To that end, Ortovox has provided retailers with Avalanche Safety Essentials fliers and Safety Academy Guide Books. Produced by Ortovox, the educational aids are available free at participating Ortovox retailers. These tools are meant as a starting point for avalanche awareness and education. Ortovox encourages all backcountry adventurers to take AIARE avalanche education courses.
