Outdoor Retailer today announced the 2010 Summer Market Open Air Demo will take place on Monday August 2, followed by the Summer Market Expo which will run Tuesday through Friday, August 3-6.

The decision to move the Summer Market show dates follows several months of research, feedback and collaboration with industry members and associations.

“The purpose of Outdoor Retailer continues to be to provide the best possible show experience, serving the diverse business needs of the outdoor recreation industry,” said Kenji Haroutunian, Outdoor Retailer show director. “We're confident the new dates will provide balanced timing for retailers, large and small, who are managing tight inventories in peak season with vendors finalizing pre-season orders.”

Outdoor Retailer independent research conducted in January 2009 (see complete survey summary and results here) confirmed that late July through mid-August was the most agreed upon time window by all respondents for holding the Summer Market show.

Conversations about show dates leading up to and through the 2009 summer show prompted an additional research initiative to further vet the subject. During this survey, exhibitors and attendees selected the first week in August as the most agreed upon time for the Summer Market show.

Following the decision to alter the dates, Outdoor Retailer received the official endorsement and support of the Outdoor Industry Association along with positive feedback from exhibitors and attendees, alike.

Lodging already secured for the 2010 show through The Housing Connection, Outdoor Retailer's official housing partner, will be automatically updated to reflect the new show dates. Communications and confirmations about those changes will be forthcoming from The Utah Housing Connection.
