Outdoor Retailer Summer Market is larger than ever. The 2006 Summer Market, which will take place in Salt Lake City from August 10-13, 2006, will feature over 950 exhibiting companies across a record 400,000 square feet of floor space. With just over 200 new exhibitors, and a plethora of booth expansions, Summer Market is completely sold out for the 25th Birthday and has grown from 400 to just over 4,000 booths since its premiere in 1982.

The 25th Birthday of Summer Market is officially the largest Outdoor Retailer tradeshow to date. Every square foot of the Salt Palace will be packed with hundreds of exhibitors showcasing the latest outdoor gear, new products, and innovations in every category for the upcoming 2007 season. Attendees will catch a sneak peak into new advances in technical fabrics and materials, observe how the trend toward lighter weight gear continues to be a top priority and witness a surge of organic and natural products manufacturers.

“This year’s Summer Market will be the first show in the expanded Salt Palace Convention Center, and will showcase the largest variety of premium summer products, people and services ever assembled under one roof,” said Peter Devin, group show director for Outdoor Retailer. “New product launches, expanded category presentations, new product demos and literally thousands of choices and product segments for retailers to choose from will be featured at OR next month…it’s going to be fantastic.”

This year’s Summer Market is bigger than ever, thanks in part to the strength of the outdoor industry and its passion for creating revolutionary products that fuel continuous growth.

Summer Market will feature the first ever two-day Open Air Demo at Willard Bay State Park on August 8 & 9 with 60 manufacturers, and over 1,000 retailers expected to attend. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to test the latest gear in a sun-drenched beach and water environment. The event will feature paddling demonstrations, Teva’s Salt Run trail runs, Hummer’s SUV test track, Magellan’s GPS treasure hunt, Wynit’s outdoor photo contest, Mountain Hardwear’s Base Camp Beer Garden, music, a Thule sponsored BBQ, and camping accommodations for those that want to spend the night.

Summer Market will be celebrating its 25th Birthday with an industry retrospective presentation. In the new section of the hall, overlooking the show floor, OR will showcase an educational and historical presentation of outdoor products, memorabilia, imagery and personalities that have helped shape and define the direction of the outdoor industry.

Summer Market will also showcase the expansion of the successful Green Steps program through its efforts working with the Salt Palace to progress facility recycling efforts, water conversation, energy usage, the reduction of packaged goods, the use of non-bleached and recyclable paper products and biodegradable, vegetable-based food and beverage containers in their concession stands.

Journalists and retailers looking to see outdoor products from around the world should not miss this memorable 25th Birthday event. The world’s leading manufacturers of outdoor lifestyle apparel, gear, footwear, foods and accessories will be gathered together at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 2006.
