“OR Rocks!,” an initiative showcasing photography, art, green living, film and music at the annual outdoor industry trade show, will return to Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 2011, Aug. 4-7, in Salt Lake City. The OR show lineup will include the first ever Outdoor Photo Expo, ORArt and Sustainable Living Roadshow, among other popular returning treatments and events.  


 

“There is no lack of passion and enthusiasm for the active lifestyle at OR,” said Kenji Haroutunian, Outdoor Retailer show director. “And with the OR Rocks! initiative, some good music, art, film, photography and sustainability are injected into the mix of business-to-business activity to create a complete experience of the active outdoor culture.”


 


Outdoor Photo Expo: Held in conjunction with Outdoor Retailer, Photo District News (PDN) first-ever Outdoor Photo Expo (OPE) offers two days of exposition, educational training and evening events for professional photographers, educators, studio managers, photo editors and individuals looking to take their craft to the next level. The event is dedicated to the professional outdoor photography market including adventure, landscape, nature, outdoor sports, travel and wildlife.   • ORArt: ORArt, a new installation in the Main Hall and New Exhibitor Pavilion, will feature the work of 10-12 established and emerging artists whose exemplary work has captured the active outdoor experience. The featured art will be on display for all attendees Thursday-Sunday (Aug. 4-7), but is also meant to connect brand art directors and marketing teams to a new base of creative multimedia talent for future collaborations. Select art will be available for purchase throughout the show.

 


Sustainable Living Roadshow: Tapping into the outdoor industry’s shared interest and commitment to environmental and social responsibility, attendees of the Outdoor Retailer show are invited to enjoy an eco-friendly atmosphere with music, tea and fun elements of the Sustainable Living Roadshow. The Roadshow will be present at both the Open Air Demo and on site at the New Exhibitor Pavilion all four days of the Outdoor Retailer show.


 


All Star Industry Jam: The All Star Industry Jam is an after-show-hours opportunity for people to get together, relax, and rock out with their peers. The event will feature bands made up of retailers, reps, manufacturers and other industry members showcasing their hidden musical talent. Hosted by world-renowned climber and funny man Timmy ONeill and benefiting Buffalo Field Campaign and Paradox Sports. Performing bands include the All Star Industry Jam Band, BD Band, DeFeet Band, Curleigh Fried w/ Keen, Struggles and Midnight Sun with Doobie and the Boys.

Summer Market Industry Party:  Thursday, Aug. 4, 6 – 8 p.m. The Courtyard in front of Abravanel Hall & The Art Center, Corner of South Temple and West Temple  The much anticipated Industry Party returns to Summer Market following a busy opening day. Outdoor Retailer and event sponsors Stanley, Adidas, Clif Bar, Merrell, Sierra Nevada and Skullcandy invite the industry to come and enjoy an evening of food, beer, volleyball and music. Admission is free with valid 2011 OR Summer Market badge.


 Directly following the Industry Party, attendees can head over to the Seedless Summer 2011 Tour with Slightly Stoopid, Rebelution, Shwayze, Cisco Adler and Don Carlos and Karl Denson. Playing at The Gallivan, walking distance from the Industry Party, Seedless Summer is offering $30 tickets to anyone with a valid OR Summer Market badge (regularly $35 per person).
