Outdoor Retailer and the OIA have sent out an invitation to participate in an online survey concerning the future location of the OR Summer Market. According to OR, survey questions were designed to gauge the event experience of retailers and exhibitors at past Summer Market tradeshows, learn about their business needs and collect input for future show direction and planning.

OR has been looking at different locations for some time, but has just recently told Salt Lake City and The Salt Palace that it is in discussions with ten different facilities across the country. The survey will be administered and analyzed by an independent third party, Boulder Sports Research, Inc. As an incentive, all survey respondents will qualify to win free lodging at the upcoming 2004 Summer Market.

According to Peter Devin, Group Show Director for VNU Expositions, OR has set a rough time-line for the decision. “…our goal is to determine the future location of Outdoor Retailer within the next few months,” he said.
Jason Mathis, Salt Lake Convention & Visitors Bureau told a local paper, “We're trying to find a solution as soon as possible; they'll be meeting again in August, and we're hoping to have something worked out…”

Reno, Denver, and Las Vegas are all on the list for future OR locations, but Las Vegas is the only one with convention centers that are larger that the Salt Palace.

>>> And we can’t find anyone that thinks Vegas is a good idea…
