Swiss performance sportswear brand, On, has combined its Surreal Superfoam with its CloudTec cushioning system, which the company reports will offer “significantly greater impact absorption than with Surreal foam alone.
Scott Maguire, chief innovation officer at On, stated, “The fusion of Surreal foam and CloudTec cushioning is our superpower. This is a fundamental enhancement to our core technology that we believe will elevate the performance and experience for runners of all kinds.”
The technology has undergone multiple years of material innovation, structural engineering and biomechanical testing at On Labs in Zurich. Using computer-aided engineering, the company’s innovation team has applied the breakthrough to the Cloudsurfer 3 and other products, crafting new levels of performance and sensation.
Caspar Coppetti, co-founder of On, added, “Innovation has always been at the core of our DNA. From the first prototype in the Swiss Alps to the global stage, On was built on a radical belief: that performance in running can be redefined when form and function come together in entirely new ways. For the past 15 years, our engineering team has turned that belief into reality through constant innovation. Next, we are confident the fusion of Surreal foam and our signature CloudTec cushioning will revolutionize the running sensation for years to come.”
The redesigned Cloudsurfer 3, introduced at The Running Event in San Antonio, TX, on December 3-4, is a performance running shoe that offers a softer, smoother ride, achieved through the combination of On’s CloudTec Phase cushioning system and Surreal foam. This pairing adapts in real time, helping to absorb impact and guide heel-to-toe transitions in a seamless roll.
Beginning with Cloudsurfer 3, Surreal foam will be a core technology used across On’s performance range, adding to On’s existing portfolio of Helion and Helion HF foams.
