The OIWC, which is dedicated to helping women in the outdoor industry advance their careers, is hosting almost 20 regional events in 2010 with a focus on six regions that are home to a concentration of outdoor companies.
The group will offer one or both of two kinds of events:
Regional Events: Hosted by either REI or EMS, these events focus on professional development topics under the 2010 theme of ‘Advancing your Career with a speaker or panel of experts, plus plenty of time for networking.
Network Nights: Hosted by OIWC sponsor companies, these events provide members with an opportunity to network with each other while visiting and learning about a specific company in their region. In addition, these events offer a ‘book club style discussion of OIWCs monthly professional development topic.
The next event, a presentation entitled ‘Advancing your Career, will be held in Burlington, VT March 25. Panelist include:
- Carolyn Cooke, Co-Founder/President, Isis – an innovative, performance driven apparel company for active women.
- Colleen Clark, VP of Human Resources, Eastern Mountain Sports – a New England based retailer since 1967.
- Berne Broudy, Authentic Outdoors – a Vermont-based writer and photographer.
- Anne-Marie Dacyshyn, PR Director, Burton – the worlds leading snowboard brand.
