Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) has hired Stephanie Bennett as corporate responsibility manager. With this new position, the OIA corporate responsibility department grows to two full-time employees, reflecting the association’s commitment to better serve the membership and a desire to expand support of corporate responsibility both within and outside the outdoor recreation industry.

Bennett comes to OIA with nearly 10 years of experience within the outdoor industry, most recently with K2 Sports. While at K2, Bennett was a manager in the planning department that allowed her to work with multiple facilities and brands that comprise the K2 umbrella. She also was the K2 representative for the Eco Working Group starting in 2008 and was co-chair of the facilities working group. In 2010, Bennett left K2 Sports to pursue a master’s degree in Environmental Education from Western Washington University, which she will complete this March.  While in graduate school, Bennett had the unique opportunity to teach youth and adults about preserving and conserving our protected lands through outdoor education.

At OIA, Bennett is responsible for supporting the Sustainability Working Group member companies as their ground-breaking work continues with the development of new tools and dynamic working groups.

“I am thrilled at the opportunity to help support the amazing work that is being accomplished by the Sustainability Working Group,” said Bennett. “The work that has been accomplished by the SWG is inspiring and I am so happy that I can assist in its continued growth and success.”

Bennett grew up in suburban Philadelphia, before moving to Washington to follow her dream of working within the outdoor industry. She is an avid outdoor enthusiast who enjoys snowboarding, trail running, mountain biking and exploring.  She will relocate to Boulder, CO in April after she finishes her master’s program.
