Outdoor Industry Association and University of Colorado Leeds School of Business have launched a new lecture series entitled, The Business of Outdoor Recreation. The lecture series will run through the current  school year and is designed to bring outdoor industry business community and Leeds MBA candidates learning, sharing and networking.

Last month, Will Manzer, CEO of Eastern Mountain Sports and OIA Board Chair kicked off the series with a discussion around the challenges managers face when markets and macro-economic turbulence change the competitive landscape.

The next lecture, Finding Success in Specialty Business. Turning Personal Passion Into Profit, will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 8 and features Shelley Dunbar, co-Founder/marketing director, Sea to Summit and Kim Walker, founder/president, outdoor DIVAS and a member of the OIA board.

Dunbar and Walker will discuss how they took their passion for outdoor recreation, along with the courage to act on that passion, and built successful outdoor specialty businesses. Learn how they grew their businesses by branding themselves distinctly and authentically with dedicated consumers.

All lectures are free and open to the public and take place at The Stadium Club at the University of Colorado, Boulder campus. Lectures will be recorded and posted on the OIA website. Future sessions and dates are posted on outdoorindustry.org/leedsmba.
