Electric bike maker Ohm Cycles Ltd. opened its first factory store in the U.S. in Seattle Monday. Located in Greenwood northwest of downtown Seattle, the Ohm Factory Store features a 600-square-foot showroom dedicated to Ohm Cycle’s Electric Bikes.

The store is offering both Urban and Sport models as well as a range of third party commuting specific accessories. The store is located at 8310 8th Ave NW in Greenwood – 10 minutes from downtown Seattle. Founded in 2005, Ohm Cycles is based in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada.

E-bike sales in the U.S. were expected to reach 300,000 units last year, or about 30 percent of European sales, according to the Electric Bikes Worldwide Report. U.S. bike dealers have largely passed on the e-bike trend, which has been driving much of the recent growth in bike sales in Europe, China and India.

Dealer lists for leading U.S. e-bike brands show bike shops are offering the vehicles alongside automobile, scooter, motorsports and even electronics retailers. Best Buy, for instance, now offers e-bikes from Currie Technologies and Ultra Motor in the $600 to $2,200 range from at 41 stores in Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, New York, Oregon and Texas, according to its website.
