Chris Chesley, 55, died yesterday in the HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg, Wis. Chesley was President of Badger Sporting Goods in Madison. Chris was a man of few words on most occasions. This was, however, not true if he was talking to a customer at Badger, where he worked for 30 years. You would also hear him talking about the most recent sporting event and anything related to the accomplishments of his three children.

His four-legged companions Sadie and Tessa were some of his best confidants and created stories he shared with his friends. With that being said, he asked for little detail of his life of 55 years to be written in his obituary.

Most importantly for him are his survivors: two daughters, Brionne Chesley of Ft. Collins, Colo., and Kimberly Chesley of Charleston, S.C.; a son, Corey Chesley of Madison; a grandson, Sage Kingston Spry; a sister, Emebet Chesley of California; his father, Richard of Arkansas; and his ex-wives, Donna Thompson of McFarland, and Kathleen Chesley-Williams of Madison.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 1, 2006, at McFarland Lutheran Church, 5529 Marsh Road, McFarland, Wis. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the high school athletic department of your choice or to the UW Comprehensive Cancer Center “Lung Cancer Research” 600 Highland Ave., K4/658, Madison, WI 53792-6164.
