Obermeyer has announced the winners of this winter’s retail competition, which included categories for in-store displays and on-line clinic participation. Retailers from around the country submitted their most successful displays from the past year to be judged by Klaus Obermeyer and the Obermeyer Marketing team. Dozens of businesses participated, submitting photos for evaluation at the SIA show. Retailers were also entered into a drawing each time they participated in an Obermeyer on-line clinic.

The Grand Prize winners in each category won a trip for two to the Aspen Spring Jam in Aspen, Colo. this March. Grand Prize winners were:

  • On-Line Clinic Participation- Heidi Weisskopf, Ski Depot Sports, Winter Park, Colo.
  • Best Display- Karen Logos and Marena Nachtigall, Scheels All Sports – Coralville, Iowa

Additional awards in a variety of display categories were also honored, and will receive an Obermeyer piece of their choice. Categories and winners included:

  • Best Overall Window – James Sherrick, Berger's Ski & Snowboard
  • Best Overall Window – The Corporate Edge I Design Dept.
  • Best Kids Window – Denise Porter, Willi's Ski Shop
  • Best Halloween Window – Dawn Lauda & Megan Sellinger, Willi's Ski Shop
  • Best Christmas Display – Helen Olson & Shannon Katanick, Willi's Ski Shop
  • Best Overall In-Store Display – Marlise Libby, Sporthaus
  • Best Use of Obermeyer POP – Karen McKillop, Crossed Sabers
  • Best Mix of Hard Goods & Soft Goods – Cole Maness, Outdoors, Inc.
  • Best Christmas In-Store Display – Mona White, Karen Warren & Alice Strait, Sunday River Crisports
  • Best Thanksgiving Display – Tammy McMillen, Chalet Ski & Patio

The contest, designed to encourage active point-of-purchase participation by Obermeyer retailers, was well received. Barbara Owen, Director of Sales and Marketing, said, “We really wanted to reward those retailers who have increased their efforts by participating in our on-line clinics and creating innovative in-store displays. The friendly competition inspired many retailers to go above and beyond their usual strategies, and they had fun doing it!”
