NSGA Names New Board Member, Reappoints Another

The National Sporting Goods Association announced the appointment of Dale Donaldson, owner of Mallard’s Source for Sports in Castlegar, British Columbia, Canada, and the reappointment of Jeff Brusati, president of T&B Sports in San Rafael, CA to the NSGA Board of Directors.

Donaldson replaces outgoing Board member Terry Hennessey, and Brusati will remain on the Board for a second term.

According to Matt Carlson, NSGA’s President & CEO, “We are excited to welcome Dale and to have Jeff continue on the NSGA Board of Directors. Dale’s many years of experience in the sporting goods industry make him an excellent person to fill a role on our Board, and Jeff’s knowledge of the team industry make his reappointment exciting for us as well. Id also like to thank Terry Hennessey for his service. We look forward to working with him and Source for Sports moving forward.”

Donaldson is a 27-year sporting goods industry veteran, having started Mallard’s Source for Sports in 1984 at age 22. Since its founding, the company has added a second location in Nelson, British Columbia, Canada. During his career, he has been heavily involved in the Sports Distributors of Canada organization, having served for 10 years on its Board, including two as Chairman. Previously, he served for 16 years on the group’s Ski Buying Committee, and for eight years on its Marketing Committee.

“Im excited to join the NSGA Board of Directors,” Donaldson said. “I basically grew up in the sporting goods business, having started at 15 as a part-time student, and never left. As our markets are so close and in a lot of cases interdependent, it is important to keep up the ties to the US retailers by being involved in NSGA.”

Brusati has served as the president of family-owned T&B Sports in San Rafael, CA since 1978 when he was only 21 years old. As president, he has overseen the growth of T&B from a single store with five employees to a two-location operation with 40 full-time employees. He has already served one term on the NSGA Board, and will continue for a second term.

Donaldson and Brusati will each serve three-year terms that began June 1.
