Harry’s Sporting Goods, which has been situated on West Front Street in Berwick, PA since 1891, is closing due to fallout from the pandemic and challenges securing product from Nike and other key vendors.
Kerri Troiani, who has owned Harry’s for 10 years, told WNEP in or Northeastern Pennsylvania that the store is closing as the business never recovered after she was forced to temporarily close the location in the early stages of the pandemic. She also her business was impacted after Nike stopped selling to the store in 2019.
“One of the biggest reasons is in 2019, Nike dropped me, and then after that, I started losing other vendors, so I had lost Asics after I lost Nike. I lost New Balance, I lost my boot company, and so it’s hard to compete when you don’t have the vendors,” said Troiani.
She tried to sell the business and building together but was only able to sell the building. Going-out-of-business sales have commenced and are scheduled to be completed by the first week of June.
