Nordica USA announced the hiring of former UVM ski ace Matt Knittle to the Nordica Race Department on Monday. Knittle will assume the position of North American Race Service and Sales Manager. He will be responsible for the service of Nordica’s growing stable of National team athletes in the USA as well as Canada in addition to managing the growing race specific sales in the USA.

Sighting Knittle’s extensive ski racing accomplishments and his long history as a Nordica athlete, Nordica’s Racing and Promotions Manager Willy Booker commented that, “Matt brings a great deal of credibility to our racing department. He is a very highly regarded athlete in the skiing community and well known for his talent at working with equipment. Matt’s experience and dedication to the sport will be a significant asset to all of the Nordica athletes.”

Knittle graduated from the University of Vermont in the spring of 2003 with a degree in community development and applied economics. He continued to compete for UVM in the 2003 – 2004 ski season completing his fourth year of eligibility. Among his many accomplishments at UVM Knittle was the 2000 NCAA Giant Slalom Champion. Twice named Men’s Captain by his teammates, Knittle had 28 top 10 finishes in his UVM career, an EISA Slalom title, and was a three time NCAA All-American. He is regarded as one of the most prolific alpine ski racers in UVM’s history. Knittle’s accomplishments were highlighted this spring when he was awarded the prestigious J. Edward Donnelly Award which honors the University’s outstanding senior athlete.
