Nike’s flagship in SoHo, lower Manhattan, closed on December 10 after opening with major fanfare in 2016. As reported, the building was acquired by Inka Group, the parent company of IKEA, for $213 million.
IKEA plans to convert the former sneaker storefront into a new IKEA store.
Representing the “Future of Sport Retail,” Nike SoHo spanned more than 55,000 square feet across five floors and featured sections for basketball, running, soccer, Apple Watch Nike+, Jordan brand, and the Snkrs app.
Nike is exploring other options to maintain its SoHo presence.
Nike operates six other store locations in New York City, including its House of Innovation flagship on the Upper East Side at 650 Fifth Avenue, Nike Battery Park in downtown Manhattan, a Nike Unite in Harlem, Nike Atlantic Center in Brooklyn, Nike Williamsburg in Brooklyn, and a Nike Clearance Store in Flushing, Queens.
