In support of Nike athlete Serena Williams' “Williams Sisters Tour,” NikeGO, Nike's signature community affairs program, will donate $50,000 worth of children's footwear (approximately 500 pairs) to the New Orleans Recreation Department to help kids get and stay active.

The Williams Sisters Tour visits cities that do not otherwise have professional women's tennis events. Each stop combines tennis competition with celebrity musical performances. The mission of NikeGO is to get kids active and to give them the means to do it, the Williams Sisters Tour offered a good opportunity for Nike to support Serena as well as provide footwear to help some of New Orleans' kids stay active.

“I have been involved with NikeGO for a few years and really enjoy the interaction with kids and being able to motivate them to stay active,” said Serena Williams. “I appreciate Nike's support of our Williams Sister Tour with a generous donation of shoes for the kids of the New Orleans Recreation Department. Louisiana is a special place for me because it's where my father came from. It means a lot to have Nike's support here.”
