Nike announced that it will support the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Initiative week by creating head-to-toe pink uniforms for four of its partner schools. The special pink uniforms will be worn Feb. 10 when Georgia visits LSU (both teams will wear a version of the uniform) and N.C. State will wear it in their contest on the same day. Rutgers will feature the jersey Feb. 11.

Each school will be outfitted with pink tops and shorts as well as pink and white Nike Huarache footwear for their games. Coaches for each of the four schools will wear specially made pink and white shoes on the sidelines. Additionally, through a special dispensation from the NCAA, 20 Nike partner schools will use a special game ball during the week that will feature a pink Swoosh design and the pink ribbon used as a symbol of breast cancer awareness.

“We are very proud to be a part of WBCA's Kay Yow Cancer initiative to support cancer research and awareness, said Jill Pizzotti, Nike's women's college basketball manager. “Coach Yow has been an important member of the Nike family for 20 years and we are glad that we can help support the V Foundation's Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund.”

Fans will be able to purchase pink t-shirts at bookstores and campus retail locations at 20 different college communities to support the initiative from February 8 through February 17. Two dollars from the sale of each t-shirt will go directly to the V Foundation's Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund. The fund, created in the name of N.C. State Head Coach Kay Yow, is committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against cancer. Nike will also make a limited number of the pink and white shoes available for purchase on www.nike.com.
