New Era, the headwear brand., will hold the company’s first-ever hackathon event at its headquarters located in downtown Buffalo.

New Era will open its doors to developers, coders and designers on Friday, November 11, 2016. Teams of one to four people will be selected and have 24 hours to solve one of three challenges for the New Era brand. Teams will develop web-based and mobile solutions to help New Era improve its engagement with consumers. Presentations will be given to a panel of judges consisting of internal brand representatives and technology experts.

Prizes will be awarded to the top five teams or individuals. Participants with the best solutions have the chance to win a tour of New Era’s cap manufacturing facility, the opportunity to custom design their very own cap and a $1,000 gift card.

“This is an opportunity for some of the best developers in this region to showcase their talents and abilities to key decision makers at New Era. We’re always looking for new recruits in the Buffalo area,” said Lorenz Gan, vice president of IT, New Era. “Ultimately, we want to walk away from this event with fresh views on our product and our brand, while providing an environment that’s challenging yet valuable to the participants.”

The New Era Hackathon is sponsored by Interactive X Inc., University at Buffalo, Red Bull and 43North. The event is free and open to the public.
