The New Balance Foundation has provided $100,000 to Special Olympics Massachusetts, becoming the presenting sponsor for the 2008 summer season. The gift will support the athletic training and competition activities for all Special Olympics Massachusetts athletes during the summer season.

The Special Olympics Massachusetts Summer Season includes nearly 70 statewide small scale assessment rounds and culminates with the organization’s largest state-wide sports competition: the Summer Games held at Harvard University on June 14-15. The Summer Season is the most popular sporting season for Special Olympics athletes, with the majority of the 10,000-plus athletes statewide participating.

In addition to the monetary gift from the New Balance Foundation, New Balance donated $12,000 in product and New Balance associates will participate as volunteers at the Summer State Games.
