New Balance announced that they will continue their long-term commitment to breast cancer research, awareness and prevention with a minimum donation of $500,000 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure from sales of the 2011 Lace Up for the Cure collection.

“New Balance is committed to supporting the promise of Komen for the Cure and raising funds through corporate and consumer donations, including those made through purchases of our Lace Up for the Cure Collection,” says Amy Shapiro, cause marketing manager for New Balance. “We believe we can make a significant contribution to breast cancer education and research by promoting physical fitness and healthy lifestyles as a way to reduce the risk of breast cancer.”

In 2011, New Balance will donate five percent of the suggested retail price of sales from the Lace Up for the Cure Collection with a guaranteed minimum donation of $500,000 to Komen. The Lace Up for the Cure Collection is available at retail year-round. In 2010, New Balance donated $1.4 million to Komen from sales of the Lace Up for the Cure Collection.

The Lace Up for the Cure Collection is comprised of footwear, apparel and accessories all adorned with the Komen Running Ribbon. The fall 2011 collection features the New Balance 860 running shoe, a moderate stability running shoe named the Official Running Shoe of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and the New Balance 860 walking shoe, a supportive cardio walking shoe and the Official Walking Shoe of the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure. The collection also includes an all-pink suede version of New Balance's iconic 993. The tongue of the 993 can be personalized with a name and one of the following phrases: 'In Honor of,' 'Running for,' 'Survivor,' 'Walking for' or 'Lace Up!' All 993s will be manufactured in the U.S.

For October 2011, New Balance will extend its successful “Let's Make Excellent Happen” brand campaign to focus on the Lace Up for the Cure Collection.
