The NBA Finals produced record viewership for ABC while also giving the league its best results in retail and digital categories.

The 2015 NBA finals was officially confirmed as the highest rated on TV since 1998, when the Bulls triumphed in Michael Jordan’s final season with Chicago. Nearly 20 million people, on average, watched the Warriors-Cavaliers series on ABC, the highest viewership in 17 years, when 29 million tuned in to watch Jordan’s Bulls beat the Utah Jazz.

Tuesday night’s game, when Golden State won 105-97 in Cleveland to seal a four-games-to-two series victory, was the most watched Game 6 in ABC’s history, scoring 23.2 million viewers, according to Nielsen.

The NBA also said that Wednesday, the day after Golden State's title-winning victory over Cleveland in Game 6, was the highest-selling day in NBAStore.com history, with a triple-digit increase over the record set in 2010 during the Lakers-Celtics finals.

The league also indicated that 336 million video views on NBA.com and NBA mobile eclipsed the record set last year, and NBA Snapchat content received a record 93.5 million views. Interactions on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram also increased.
