Mt. Baker Ski Area is freezing season pass prices for the third straight season following what management said was the toughest season in their 50 year career.

“This has been the least amount of snow that I have ever seen,” Duncan and Gwyn Howat said in a letter on the resort website that also marked the end of the 2014-15 ski season. The couple serve as general manager and vice president of operations for the ski area, which is one of the last locally owned ski resorts in California.

“It has been a darn tough season for the people who really enjoy the mountains, for our pass holders, for the community in general, for our employees, the businesses down in the valley, and really for the ski areas themselves.”
Mt Baker offered 2014-2015 regular season pass holders a 30 percent discount off of their 2015-2016 season pass purchase. The resort will hold the 30% discounted rate until it receives 30 inches of snow at Heather Meadows and is open for operation.
The resort also said it will extend a second additional season of free skiing to 2014-15 participants in its 5th Grade Ski Free program.

Continue the Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Exchange for the 2015-2016 season.

“Because Mt. Hood Meadows was so accommodating to our Season Pass customers this season when we had suspended operations, we are extending two free midweek lift tickets to the Mt. Hood Meadows 2014-2015 Unlimited Season Pass Holders for the 2015-2016 season,” the couple wrote in their letter.
