Mountain Safety Research (MSR), maker of outdoor equipment, is appointing Verde Brand Communications as its public relations and communications agency of record.

Verde will work with MSR to creatively tell the brand’s heritage and product stories and further educate enthusiasts across North America through effective media relations and integrated communications strategies. They will reinforce the relationship with MSR’s loyal consumer base, while looking to new audiences for further expansion. The agency will also highlight news and accomplishments of MSR’s humanitarian efforts through MSR Global Health—its division pioneering innovative, field proven technologies for low-resource communities and disaster relief.

“Verde has not only experience and expertise in the outdoor industry but a shared ethos built on enjoying and protecting the outdoors,” said Doug Sanders, VP of MSR. “We are confident in their ability to help expand our brand awareness, while also informing the public on our different facets.”

Since 1969, the Seattle-based brand has engineered reliable, long-lasting gear to support adventurers worldwide on their outdoor pursuits. The brand was built on a notion that still fuels the design of each product—”better, safer, more reliable equipment is the key to unlocking greater adventures.”

MSR’s gear offerings consist of tents, snowshoes, stoves, fuel, cookware, water treatment, hydration systems, and snow tools. The brand’s gear has evolved over the years with the backcountry traveler. Whether it be a mountaineer, fastpacker, trailrunner or family campers, MSR has uniquely tailored gear to meet the needs of the adventurer. Today, many MSR products are still hand-built on manufacturing lines just a floor below where they have been designed.

“We are thrilled for the opportunity to tell MSR’s story of passion and innovation,” said Kristin Carpenter-Ogden, founder and CEO of Verde Brand Communications. “They have such a loyal, core following already, so it’ll be exciting to expand upon it while educating the public on other impressive initiatives they are spearheading.”
