Mountain Khakis, a brand new company on the OR show floor, launched at the winter market and has already established itself as a viable outdoor lifestyle apparel brand. With a sales team led by Cloudveil and Mammut veteran Noah Robertson, the company introduced a simple concept-pants.

Mountain Khakis intends to remain a “hips down” company and has initially introduced only two models, the Alpine Utility Pant and the Original Mountain pant. Currently product is only in three “seed stores” but Robertson intends to have a full sales force and several more retailers by the end of the show. The management team, led by Mac Lackey, plans to invest in its retail partners with POP displays, a dealer only site, and a rapid replenishment site.

If foot traffic is a measurement for initial success, then the brand appears to be taking off. Mountain Khakis is one of the only booths in the ballroom, other than Keen, generating a considerable amount of attention from retailers.
