Modell’s Sporting Goods is celebrating the opening of their 154th location, now arriving in Capitol Heights, MD. The location is located at 1761 Ritchie Station Court. On Thursday, March 6th doors opened at 9am to kick off grand opening weekend.
The ceremonial ribbon cutting will be taking place at 9am on Thursday morning with Mitchell Modell, CEO of Modell’s Sporting Goods. Modell’s will continue the celebration by distributing $25 Modell’s Gift Cards to the first 150 people on Thursday and Friday followed by the next 50 receiving a $10 gift card. As the store leads into its first weekend, Saturday & Sunday will continue the festivities with the first 100 customers receiving a “Mystery Gift Card” that could be any of the following denominations $25, $50, $100.

The energy is expected to be high with a live DJ that will be playing music and engaging with customers to make a more pleasant shopping experience. Modell’s will kick off the celebration with Bradley Beal of the Washington Wizards meeting with fans on Thursday, March 6th from 7pm. Customers will also have the opportunity to get an autograph and take pictures with their favorite Washington Redskins players including; All-Pro Wide Receiver – Santana Moss on Saturday, March 8th at 1pm and 2013 Pro-Bowl Linebacker, Brian Orakpo on Sunday, March 9th at 1pm.
Customers will have the opportunity to enter to win a once-a-lifetime opportunity for Four to travel to New York City on Saturday, June 21st to see the Baltimore Orioles take on the New York Yankees and the opportunity to see one of Derek Jeter’s last games during his farewell tour from the 1st & 2nd rows behind home plate. Roundtrip Travel & Hotel accommodations will be given to the winner. Entries will be accepted at the Capitol Heights location only between March 6th & March 14th.
