Major League Baseball announced that all Louisville Sluggers used throughout the 2009 season will feature a special logo marking the brand’s 125th anniversary.

The logo will be placed between the bats’ center brand and the end brand that contains the player’s name and model number.

The logo will include the year in which Louisville Slugger was launched, 1884, and 2009, its 125th anniversary year. Louisville Sluggers are made by Hillerich & Bradsby Co. Inc.

This is the third time in the Louisville Slugger’s history that MLB has allowed a special logo on the bats, according to a news release. In 1976, a special logo marking the United States bicentennial was added to the Louisville Sluggers used in the major leagues. In 2006, a breast cancer ribbon logo was used for the first time on the pink bats H&B created for Mother’s Day.
