Mizuno has been in the business of footwear for 110 years, and this week it celebrated the 20th iteration of the cornerstone shoe, the Wave Rider- first released in 1998.

Of course, the celebration of 20 different evolutions over 18 years merited a new model that, while staying true to the Wave Ride OG, packs some new mid-sole “cloudwave” technology.

“We took a look at where the Wave Rider could use the most improvements, and we carefully engineered those – along with evolutionary and thoughtful design – into the Wave Rider 20,” said Todd Lewis, VP of running footwear and design, Mizuno USA.

“The release is a historic moment for Mizuno as it has guided our path in the sport of running, and joins a short list of shoes that have reached this milestone,” said Kim Hoey, senior director of brand marketing and management, Running at Mizuno USA.
