Japanese golf-club manufacturer Miura Golf has named Charlie Gerber vice president, U.S. distribution.

Gerber – graduate of Florida State University – has enjoyed a golf-industry career spanning more than 15 years that includes various sales representative and sales management positions, most of which involved restructuring and refocusing the sales forces at each company. Most recently Gerber was Sales Manager with Sundog Eyewear Midwest. His other golf industry experience includes stints at Drive Headwear LLC, Golf Coach Inc., Teardrop Golf, and as an Independent Sales Rep for Tommy Armour Golf.

In his new job as Miura's vice president – U.S. Distribution, Gerber will work directly with the company's 77 dealers across the country as opposed to managing a network of independent sales reps. Gerber will also be charged with adding qualified dealers in markets where Miura lacks representation.

“Charlie has the exact skills Miura needs at this important jumping-off point into the next stage of our growth,” says Adam Barr, president of Miura. “In both consumer products and golf, he has shown a seasoned sensitivity to the needs of consumers and retail partners. And his manner, both as a businessman and a golfer, has inspired trust and confidence in countless associates. We're very proud he's with us.”

Upon his graduation from Florida State, Gerber climbed the consumer products corporate ladder at the Dial Corp. for 14 years, followed by two years as Director of Sales at American Companies before entering the golf business.

“I'm very excited to have the opportunity to work with Miura Golf's enthusiastic dealers nationwide as well as help the company gain traction with new qualified dealers in areas of the country currently without Miura representation,” Gerber says. “Once we have all of our dealers in place it's just a matter of giving more golfers the opportunity to experience the incredible quality of our product.”

Miura Golf's corporate office is located in Vancouver, British Columbia.
