Midwest Mountaineering will present the 24th annual Winter Outdoor Adventure Expo on November 20-22, 2009. The Expo boasts over 90 free presentations and 70 presenters. It is the first major stop on the Banff Mountain Film Festival’s international tour.

The Expo hosts tons of speakers recounting amazing trips. Mike Farris will talk about his experiences on Mount Everest without guides or sherpas. Lonnie Dupre will recount the Peary Centennial North Pole Expedition. Eric Simula will recount his 1000 mile Minnesota Arrowhead Journey in a birchbark canoe. Recent Start Tribune Variety sections have featured both Dave Watson (1st person ever to ski K2) and Midwest Mountaineering founder and owner Rod Johnson (1000 miles on the Pacific Crest Trail with a 9lb backpack). There are also numerous ‘how to’ classes including Dog First Aid and How to Throw a Party in the Winter Wilderness.

Many resorts, local organizations and clubs use the Expo as a way to promote themselves and attract new members. Some of the groups represented are: The Sierra Club, The Nature Conservancy, NOLS, Outward Bound and many U.S. and Canadian parks and outfitters. Midwest Mountaineering warmly supports the missions of these organizations.

Free admission to all Expo events, except the Banff Mountain Film Festival, reflects Midwest Mountaineering’s mission statement, ‘Sharing Passion for the Outdoors.’ The mission statement is further reinforced by the diversity of speakers and exhibitors at the Expo.

Midwest Mountaineering is a prominent outdoor specialty store located in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
