McDavid, Inc. will host and sponsor the inaugural “First On, Last Off” Basketball Tournament Sept. 22-23. The tournament will take place at Collins Academy High School in Chicago, IL and coincides with the launch of the company’s new branding.

Top basketball players in the Midwest will compete for the top prize of $5,000 with the tournament’s MVP receiving a $500 cash prize. McDavid’s “First On, Last Off” Basketball Tournament will be an intensely competitive, 5-on-5 double elimination competition featuring the best teams and officials in the area. Tournament director Reggie Armstrong has an impressive resume of managing successful basketball tournaments and leagues such as Star One Men’s Basketball League and Lakeshore Athletic Club leagues.

“McDavid is extremely excited to hold this tournament as it gives us an opportunity to show off our new logo and branding to the Chicago basketball community,” said Mary Horwath, vice president of global marketing. “Our audience is those athletes that are always the “first on, last off” the court, the field, the rink, and so on. This theme speaks to three decades of innovation and passion from McDavid.”

As tournament sponsor, McDavid will be giving participants a first look at the brand's completely refreshed identity. The newly branded products will debut at major sporting goods retailers in early 2013. McDavid's product line includes braces for individual parts of the body, such as knees and ankles, plus protective apparel featuring its patented HEX technology.
